Simplicity can often be the key to efficiency and the best way to turn an idea into a sonic result. The KeyStep was completely designed with this in mind. The ambition of the KeyStep is to be direct and straight to the point, without any of the constraints, allowing you to focus on musical creativity. No matter if your setup is analog or digital, KeyStep will allow you to reach a whole new level of control and creativity.

No Compromise Playability
User-FriendlyArturia began by designing their own “slim key” keyboard action, combining the best features of compact mini-keys with the musicality of full-sized keys into this new keybed. The size, velocity and aftertouch of this design gives you the freedom of portability without compromising on playability.
A new polyphonic step-sequencer with 8 programmable memories has been designed so you can recall at the turn of knob. You can select gate times and swing settings instantly to change the feel of your sequenced performance on the fly. You also get the ability to record, overdub, and transpose your sequences in real time whilst still playing the keyboard live.
More Than Just A ControllerThe features alone would make KeyStep the best portable keyboard controller available. But in true Arturia fashing, they have taken it further by giving you an additional range of connectivity options: USB MIDI, standard MIDI in and out, clock sync and DIN sync jacks, and CV/GATE outputs.
You also get a separate, assignable modulation CV output that can be used with the mod wheel, velocity or aftertouch. Once you get stuck in you’ll notice that the KeyStep is more than just an incredible little controller.
Three Modes of Operation
KeyStep is all about simplicity and immediacy, improving the connection that musicians can experience with their performance and their public. Each feature has been thought out to match live artists hopes and demands including real-time sequence rewriting, smart sequence-swapping function and simultaneous playing/sequencing.
SequencerIn Sequencer mode you can record, play and transpose a polyphonic sequence with up to 64 steps and 8 simultaneous notes per step. Sequencer mode also allows you to rewrite in real-time your sequence and even to play and sequence simultaneously on two different MIDI channels.
ArpegiattorThe arpegiattor allows you to play each note of a chord consecutively instead of simultaneously. The eight possible playing directions and the Time Division knob will enable the creation of complex and unusual melodies.
ControllerKeyStep competes with most of the bigger keyboard controllers thanks to its impressive range of features including a custom 32-slim-key keybed with velocity and aftertouch, highly reactive pitch and modulation capacitive ribbons and above all the possibility of controlling almost every type of synthesizer by MIDI and CV.

You've probably read the USB Tekspek, and perhaps your intrigue, or product interest, has lead you to look up Firewire as well.
